Brief bio
After undergraduate studies at the Universities of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Imperial College, and Heidelberg, Professor Brand completed obtained his PhD from the University of Heidelberg in quantum many-body theory (supervisor: Lorenz S. Cederbaum). After a postdoctocal research fellowship at the University of Washington (supervisor: William P. Reinhardt), he returned to Germany as a PKS Distinguished Postdoctocal Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden. He joined Massey University in 2006 as a Senior Lecturer in Physics. Since 2012 he is Professor of Theoretical Physics at Massey University's New Zealand Institute for Advanced Study.
