Casual staff vacancies
The Health and Ageing Research Team (HART) is seeking part-time casual researchers in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to conduct in-person assessments with older adults as part of the New Zealand Body, Mind and Ageing (NZ-BMA) Study.
Training will be provided in late January 2025, with assessments commencing in February 2025. Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in psychology, health, nursing, Māori studies, or a related field. Experience engaging with older people and knowledge of Māori tikanga are advantageous. A criminal record check will be required.

PhD scholarship: The New Zealand Body, Mind and Ageing Study
The Health and Ageing Research Team (HART) has an exciting PhD opportunity available. If you are interested in pursuing a PhD focused on cognitive health, statistical analyses and enhancing the wellbeing of older people in Aotearoa through a preventive lens, this may be of interest to you.
We are offering a PhD Scholarship for the New Zealand Body, Mind and Ageing Study (NZ-BMA) to commence in early 2025. This scholarship includes an annual stipend of $35,000 plus $8,500 per year towards fees for three years. The NZ-BMA study involves over 2,700 face-to-face assessments of cognitive functioning, physical health, lifestyle, and other health and well-being factors with individuals aged 55+ to better understand age-related health trajectories. While undertaking your PhD you will contribute to coordinating and undertaking assessments, performing quantitative analyses, and writing up results as part of the Health and Ageing Research Team.
