Submit your application
You may apply for a permit for 12 months (annual), 3 months (quarterly) or for a single use. You will need:
- Food Registration Certificate and menu
- Vehicle Warrant of Fitness, registration and Road User Certificate
- Electrical Certificate, Gas Certification or LPG Cylinder Certificate if applicable.
You will not need to pay for your permit until your application has been approved.
Conditions of your Food Truck Permit
- Food Truck Operators must display their Food Truck permit so that it is visible while trading on Massey University Campus.
- The permit will only apply to the vehicle whose registration number is specified on the permit.
- The Food Truck Operator must hold a current Food Act 2014 registration certificate that must be prominently displayed in or on some part of the Food Truck or carried on the person at all times when open and trading for business.
- The vehicle must have a current warrant of fitness/certificate of fitness and current NZTA vehicle registration.
- Food Trucks must be equipped with a water tank of not less than 25 litre capacity and have the ability to provide hot water.
- For trading the Food Truck must remain stationary in the designated agreed area on the Massey Campus. Upon request from designated Massey University Personal and with reason the operator maybe required to alter this area.
- Food and Beverage for sale is permitted to be displayed on or in the Food Truck only
- Alcohol may only be sold with the permission of Massey University, and the business owner must hold a caterers alcohol license or have obtained a special license from the relevant local council.
- Food Truck Operators must remove any litter from the surrounding area of the Food Truck which has been generated by the activities of its operation that day. The operator of the Food Truck is responsible for removal and disposal of their waste and refuse from Massey Campus.
- Massey University shall have the right to revoke any permit to trade on campus if at any time the Food Truck and its surrounds are not maintained in an orderly and clean state or is in breach of their permit conditions.
- Food trucks may display advertising signage while trading. However, this signage must be within 2 metres of the Food Truck. Signage cannot be placed on top of the Food Truck unless it is permanently fixed to the Food Truck.
- Food Trucks must not cause damage to any Massey University property, this includes roadways, footpaths, road berms and grass areas. Massey University reserves the right to invoice the Food Truck Operator for any negligent or wilful damage to Massey University Property.
- In the interest of safety, the operator of the Food Truck must comply with Massey University Health and Safety Policy, and any instructions given by delegated Massey University Personal.
- Approval to trade on Massey Campus is at the sole discretion of Massey University and may be refused.
- Massey University may include additional approval conditions if appropriate.
- Every Food Truck operator shall comply with any legislative requirement, regulations etc that are relevant to Food Truck activity. This includes but is not limited to Food Act 2014, Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and Health & Safety at Work Act 2015
