AACSB International (AACSB) has announced this week that Massey University is among six business schools globally to have extended their accreditation in both business and accounting.
For more than a century, AACSB accreditation has been synonymous with the highest standards in business education.
Commenting on the announcement, Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice-President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB congratulated each institution on their achievement.
“Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”
Pro Vice-Chancellor Massey Business School Professor Stephen Kelly says, “having our AACSB accreditation extended is great recognition for the quality of the teaching and research that happens within the school. Our staff and students are amazingly talented.”
“The process is extremely rigorous though. My sincere thanks go out to the MBS team for the serious mahi that has been put in over many months of tireless work to achieve this result.
The support of colleagues across the University in the preparation for the review and as participants in the review itself is greatly appreciated”
Achieving initial accreditation requires a business school to meet AACSB’s accreditation standards of excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
Once accreditation is achieved, each institution participates in a five-year peer review that creates an ongoing focus of continuous improvement. This signals that an AACSB-accredited institution has documented continuous improvements in support of its stated mission and strategic management plan to sustain AACSB accreditation status.
Continuing to hold this accreditation provides independent verification of the quality of the business and accounting education provided at Massey University and the ongoing efforts that are made to foster excellence across all activities within the college.
