The programme supports and nurtures promising Kiwi scientists with entrepreneurial potential, helping them achieve commercial success and become future innovators for Aotearoa New Zealand. Dr Roy’s research focuses on food structure, digestion and innovation projects, under the Riddet Institute CoRE funding 'Future Foods in Harmony with Nature'.
KiwiNet’s programme offers $10,000 in project funding, mentorship and resources to help scientists build industry connections and develop proof-of-concept for disruptive new inventions. Dr Roy will receive guidance from a commercial mentor tailored to her needs and will receive access to resources to support the commercialisation journey. The primary goal of the programme is the development of the commercial aspiration and core capability of the recipient.
Dr Roy says she is grateful to the Riddet Institute innovation team and Massey Ventures Limited for the support in participating in the KiwiNet Emerging Innovator Programme.
“I look forward to leveraging the programme’s support, including mentorship, funding and industry connections to advance my research, entrepreneurial goals and for professional upskilling.”
Dr Roy is currently a research officer with Riddet Insitue. She joined the Riddet Institute as a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2021 after completing her PhD in Food Technology at Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University. She brings valuable experience from her industrial research and development work in the Middle East and her academic background, including a master’s in food technology from Central Food Technological Research Institute, India and a bachelor’s in agriculture from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, India.
