The first step when applying to study with us as a domestic student is to apply for admission into a qualification. Once you've been admitted you can apply for enrolment in the courses that make up your qualification. Domestic students are New Zealand citizens or residents
Prepare to apply for admission
1, Check your eligibility to study at Massey
2, Choose your qualification
Find a course or qualification
If your qualification has majors or endorsements (specialisations) you'll be able to choose one when you apply for admission. You'll be able to choose an additional major or endorsement, and minors, when you apply for courses.
For some qualifications you'll need to give us specific information when you apply, which is included on the qualification pages.
If you are a postgraduate research student, and your qualification offers a choice, you'll also need to decide how many credits of research you would like to do. You should also contact the appropriate department to discuss the possible research opportunities.
3, Identify documents you need to supply
4, Check the application due dates
5, View fees and funding options
You can view an estimate of your fees and find out about funding options.
6, Apply for admission
Apply for admission
New students apply for admission on our website.
Returning students apply by logging in to the student portal.
After you apply for admission
Offer of Place and Massey student ID number
After you submit your admission application we will assess your eligibility to study your chosen qualification. If you are successful we will send you an email letting you know an Offer of Place message is in the student portal.
Once you receive your Offer of Place you can:
- accept it
- decline it
- request to defer your start date or change your study location.
If you accept your offer, you will be able to add your courses if enrolments for the year are open. You will also receive an email with your Massey student ID number.
If you decline your offer you will be withdrawn from the qualification you applied for.
If you want to change to a different qualification you need to submit a new admission application.
Conditional Offer of Place
If your application is dependent on results from a university entrance qualification such as NCEA Level 3, you may get an Offer of Place which is conditional on you achieving university entrance. We may need to wait for your results to be available.
Processing times
Standard applications usually take 1 week to process. If we need more information we will contact you.
Some applications will take longer than the standard processing time. For example
- applications for research and selected entry qualifications
- discretionary entrance and
- during peak processing times.
Prepare for course enrolment
Once you have accepted your Offer of Place, and enrolments are open, you can apply for the specific courses you want to study.
1, Choose your courses
Review your qualification structure. When you select your courses you need to make sure you meet all of the requirements for your qualification. You also need to work out which courses to study first and how many to study.
2, Find out about recognition of prior learning
You may be able to get credits from complete or incomplete tertiary qualifications and from informal learning from training, work experience and life experiences.
3, Check the due dates
Make sure you know the due dates for adding courses. You should also check the semester dates and examination periods.
