Dr Wei Yang PhD

Senior Lecturer in Farm Management/Agribusiness

I’m a trained economist working in the research field of agriculture and environment, with strong collaborations with national and international research institutes. I have over ten years of experience in conducting and leading multidisciplinary research projects, including OurLandand Water, Endeavour, and Catalyst Fund.  I have published multiple papers in high-impact journals and presented my findings at national and international conferences. I am passionate about using data and evidence to inform policy and decision-making and to promote sustainable development and environmental stewardship. I have successfully finished several postgraduate students' supervision and held several visiting students and research fellowships.

Teaching and Supervision

Teaching Statement

Prior to Massey, I used to teach undergraduate- and postgraduate-level courses across a variety of economics and business disciplines, including macro- and micro-economics, econometrics, environmental economics, introduction to NZ agribusiness, stats for business, and data analytics.

Graduate Supervision Statement

Prior to Massey University, I worked at Lincoln University and successfully completed 2 master's students and 4 Ph.D. students supervision as co-supervisor, and secured a research fund as main supervisor for a PhD research project (expected to finish 2025). Besides, I successfully helped 2 students (1 master's and 1 PhD) and 5 researchers from China to get scholarships from the China Scholarship Council to visit Lincoln University and NIWA - I was the supervisor and holder.
