Tuition fees
The cost of your tuition at Massey will depend on what kind of student you are.
Exchange
You won't pay tuition fees to Massey if you come here on exchange. Instead, you'll keep paying your usual tuition fees to your home university.
Study abroad
Our study abroad programme has a fixed tuition fee for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Study abroad 2025 fee: $12,700 per semester.

- is in New Zealand dollars and includes Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- only covers your tuition – you may also need to pay other fees to Massey, and you'll need to buy insurance and pay for your living expenses.
Virtual Study Abroad
If you're part of Massey's Virtual Study Abroad programme, you'll pay $2,717 tuition fee for each course you take.

Non-tuition fees
You may need to pay some extra fees for administration services that Massey or the students' association provide. We call these non-tuition fees.

Course component fees
For some courses, you may need to pay extra fees to cover costs like field trips or lab materials.

On top of the fees you pay to Massey or your home university, you'll also need to pay for:
- a student visa
- health and travel insurance – you need to have this by law
- travel to and from New Zealand and your campus
- accommodation
- your living costs
- any travelling you want to do while you're here.

Health and travel insurance
As an international student at Massey, we'll automatically sign you up for Studentsafe health and travel insurance – though you can use another policy if it meets our standards.
If you use Studentsafe insurance, you'll pay the fee when you accept your Offer of Place.
