Enjoy the privacy and independence of a single-occupancy studio unit. Each studio unit is thoughtfully designed and furnished to provide a comfortable living space for mature students aged 25 to 30 years. All studios have a kitchenette and ensuite bathroom.

Take advantage of nearby facilities and common areas within Te Ōhanga Village, including the Te Rito hub with its music room, TV lounge, laundry facilities, patio, and games rooms.

Tānekaha studio units are conveniently located close to student facilities, including Student Central, the library, lecture theatres, and the recreation centre, as well as buses to Auckland city centre.

Rooms and furniture

Enjoy the convenience and comfort of self-contained living in our studio units at Te Ōhanga Village. Here's what you'll find in each studio unit:

  • Queen bed – relax and unwind on a spacious queen bed, complete with a comfortable mattress and mattress protector for a restful night's sleep. Note that while the room includes a queen bed, studios are single-occupancy and cannot accommodate couples.
  • Study space – desk, shelf, drawers, pinboard, and desk chair for studying, working or personal projects.
  • Kitchenette – the kitchenette includes a hob (no oven), microwave, combined fridge and freezer, jug, toaster and cooking utensils.
  • Heater – stay warm and cozy during cooler months with a heater provided in each studio unit.
  • TV – a TV is included in each studio unit.

Items you should bring

Prepare for your stay in Tanekaha by bringing along these essential items:

  • Bedding and towels – ensure a comfortable sleep by bringing your own bedding, including sheets, blankets, and pillows. Don't forget to pack towels for personal use.
  • Clothing hangers – keep your wardrobe organised with clothing hangers for hanging clothes in your wardrobe.
  • Toiletries and toiletries bag – bring along your toiletries, such as toothpaste, shampoo, and soap, and store them in a toiletries bag for easy access.
  • Laundry basket – stay organised with a laundry basket for collecting dirty clothes and transporting them to the laundry facilities.
  • Laundry powder – stock up on laundry powder to keep your clothes clean and fresh throughout your stay.
  • Cleaning products – keep your living space tidy by bringing cleaning products such as surface cleaner, wipes, and a vacuum cleaner if desired.
  • Electric fan – you may also wish to bring an electric fan to cool your room during the summer months.

Each studio unit has its own private ensuite bathroom that includes shower, toilet, and sink.

Our payment options are flexible to suit your financial preferences.

You can choose to pay by semester or full year. If you are a domestic student, you also have the option to pay on a weekly basis by direct debit.

Deposit

When your application for accommodation is successful, you will be sent an offer. You will need to pay a deposit on acceptance of this offer to secure your place in halls.

To guarantee your place, you need to pay the deposit by the offer expiry date stated in your offer letter.

Payment process

Follow the instructions provided in your offer letter to make the deposit payment. Payment methods and deadlines will be outlined in the offer letter.

Once your deposit is received and processed, you will recieve your confirmation of place and further instructions about move-in dates and procedures.

Withdrawal and refund eligibility

To secure a refund of the bond, mattress protector and activity fee, you must cancel before the specified deadline. The processing fee is non-refundable and will not be included in the refund amount.

Withdrawal deadline

  • Returning halls residents – cancellations must be received by 1 December 2024.
  • New hall residents – cancellations must be received by 23 January 2025.
