Rooms and furniture

Enjoy modern living in our fully furnished, large single private rooms.

Here's what you can expect in each room:

  • King single bed – rest comfortably on a spacious king single bed, complete with a mattress and mattress protector for a good night's sleep.
  • Study area – study from the comfort of your own room. Your room includes a designated study desk, chair and desk light.

Items you should bring

By bringing along these essential items, you'll be well-prepared for your stay in our Tree Halls and will settle in comfortably from day one.

  • Bedding and towels – ensure a comfortable sleep by bringing your own bedding, including sheets, blankets, and pillows. Don't forget to pack towels for personal use.
  • Clothing hangers – keep your wardrobe organised with clothing hangers for hanging clothes in your wardrobe.
  • Toiletries and toiletries bag – bring along your toiletries, such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap, and store them in a toiletries bag for easy access.
  • Laundry basket – stay organized with a laundry basket for collecting dirty clothes and transporting them to the laundry facilities.
  • Laundry powder – stock up on laundry powder to keep your clothes clean and fresh throughout your stay.
  • Cleaning products – keep your living space tidy by bringing cleaning products such as surface cleaner and wipes.
  • 3M hooks/tape or white tac – if you wish to hang anything on your wall (no tape, nails, screws or blu tac allowed).

Optional

  • Electric fan – while each room has an opening window, you may also wish to bring an electric fan to cool your room during the summer months.
  • Small fridge – consider bringing a small fridge with a capacity of around 47L to store snacks and beverages. Remember to place it on a waterproof mat to prevent damage to the floor.

Bathrooms

The halls have shared gender-neutral bathrooms with showers, toilets and sinks. There is 1 bathroom for every 4 students. All toilets and showers are within self-contained private cubicles with lockable doors.

Meal plans and dining

If you are living in the Tree Halls, you'll get daily meals in the dining hall or via our Time2Eat app.

Your meal plan provides you with 2 meals each day:

  • Monday to Friday – lunch and dinner
  • Saturday and Sunday – brunch and dinner

Dining hall

You will find the dining hall at the Student Centre on the main concourse. The dining hall offers a range of food choices which change daily to keep meals exciting and nutritious. Use your student ID card to receive your meals.

Time2Eat app

You don't always have to take your meals in the dining hall. If you feel like a takeaway, you can download the Time2Eat app on your device:

  • View the daily menu
  • Order takeaway meals
  • Give us feedback on your dining experience.

Our meal plan and dining services are designed to ensure you have access to meals throughout your stay, making your life easier and more enjoyable.

The Tree Halls have a common lounge with TV, sofas and a fully equipped kitchen. The halls share 2 external communal spaces, named Karaka and Kānuka, which have a social space, study space and a laundry with washers, dryers and an ironing board. Cost for laundry is $3 per wash and $3 per dry.
