The purpose of the Te Wheke a Toi Awards is to contribute to the completion of your doctorate. The awards will assist with your study fees and either your research cost or placement (not fully funded internship).
Eligibility
These awards are open to Māori doctoral students (part-time and full-time) who are:
- currently enrolled in a doctoral qualification at Massey University (provisionally or granted full registration)
- committed to performing to a high academic standard.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
You are not eligible to apply for this award if you are:
- full-time staff of Massey University
- recipients of any scholarships of over $20,000 per year, including recipients who have been awarded scholarships to cover full study fees and/or research or placement costs.
Decision
Applications will be assessed by the Pūkenga Matua: Senior Research Officer and one of the officers of Te Mata o te Tau: The Academy for Māori Research and Scholarship, and recommendation made to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori for approval.
Payment of awards
- The amount of the award will vary and is dependent upon the number of applicants in any one year.
- The award is to contribute to study fees and research costs or study fees and placement (professional or clinical doctorates only).
- The award for study fees will be paid directly to your Massey University student account.
- If you have obtained a StudyLink loan, the award amount for fees will be credited to this loan and that portion returned to StudyLink.
- If your study fees are less than the award, the difference will be returned to Te Wheke a Toi.
- Research or placement costs will be paid directly to your bank account.
