How to make an appointment
First appointments
To make your first appointment with one of our counsellors fill out this confidential counselling registration form.
We'll get back to you within two working days with an appointment time, and often on the same day. You'll also get a reminder by text 24 hours (one day) before your appointment.
Follow-up appointments
If you have already had an appointment with a counsellor at Massey and want to book another counselling session, you can:
- use the online booking form to book a counselling session.
- contact your campus Student Health and Counselling Centre.
Get urgent help in a crisis
If you or someone else is at risk of harm, or you feel the need for help right now:
- call 111 in New Zealand in an emergency
- follow these crisis instructions from the Mental Health Foundation
- free call or text 1737 any time in New Zealand for support from a trained counsellor.
Cost of counselling sessions
Counselling services are free for most Massey students residing in New Zealand and are covered by your student services fees.
International students in New Zealand, you do not need to pay when you attend a counselling appointment. We will contact your medical and travel insurance provider to cover your use of the counselling service.
Location of appointments
Counselling appointments are held in the Student Health and Counselling Centres on each campus. You can also attend remotely through videoconference or by phone if you are studying in New Zealand.
Distance students in New Zealand who want to attend counselling in person can choose which campus Student Health and Counselling Centre to attend.
Changing your appointment
You can change your appointment up to 24 hours (one day) before your appointment time by contacting your campus Student Health and Counselling Centre.
Cancelling your appointment
If you need to cancel, we prefer you give us at least 24 hours (one day's) notice so we can give your appointment time to someone else.
